Obituary
Carmen T. Kesel 78, of Ocala, Florida, (previously from Phelps, NY) passed away peacefully with her loving family by her side and went to be with her lord on Monday, February 20, 2017 after a prolonged illness. Carmen was born January 14, 1939 in Aibonito, Puerto Rico and was the daughter of the late Maria (Rivera) McCoon and Jose Ramos. Carmen loved vacations at the beach, birds and nature, baking, and gardening; flowers were her passion. She had a strong Christian faith and was an active member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Ocala, Florida and a previous member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Newark, NY. She is survived by her best friend and companion of 34 years, Pressley Gladding; her children, who she was proud of and shared such a close and loving relationship with, Kenneth Scott (April) of Hall, NY; Elaine Doell (Richard) of Wilmington, NC; and Dawn Linstruth (William) of Warrenton, MO; and her sisters Raida Gonzalez of Addison, NY and Sonia McCoon of Painted Post, NY. Carmen also had eight grandchildren, who were a source of pride and joy: Sara, Nelson, and Rachell Scott of Hall, NY; Lindsay and Torrey Doell of Wilmington, NC; and Miranda, Hannah and Isabella Linstruth of Warrenton, MO, and several nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents, stepfather Homer McCoon, and sisters Gertrude Hall, and Tomasa Tunnicliff. It was Carmen’s wish that there be no calling hours and the family is planning a memorial service that will be held at 11:00 a.m. on April 22, 2017 at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Ocala, FL. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that a donation be made in her memory to the Alzheimer’s Organization (http://www.alz.org) or to Hospice of Marion County (http://hospiceofmarion.com). Messages of condolence may be left at www.baldwincremation.com. Arrangements by Baldwin Brothers Funerals & Cremations, Ocala, FL 352-236-5884.
