Obituary
Charles Robert David, Sr. passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving wife and children on July 3, 2017, after a long illness. He is survived by his wife Betty of Salt Springs, FL, and their 3 children, Debbie Sweetman from Townsend, DE; Donna George from Wilmington, DE and Charles David, Jr. from Glasgow, DE along with 7-grandchildren and 3-great grandchildren. He joined the Army when he was very young and earned several commendations in Sharpshooting. Soon after the Army, he wed Betty Risley of Cape May, NJ and became employed by the Chrysler Corporation of Newark, DE of which he retired after 31 Years as a pipe fitter.
He was a member of the Moose, Scottish Rite, as well as, Mason and a Shriner. Once retired, he and his wife moved to Salt Springs, FL. He worked part-time as a volunteer in the Neighborhood Watch Program and at Clay Electric where he gained many close friends. He was an avid coin collector and dog lover and was known at Suncoast Bassett Rescue & Halle’s Angels for providing a wonderful home to “Maggie”, “Fred”, “Angel”, and “Zeba”, as well as many other animals over the years.
Private family services will be held at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to your local animal shelter, S.P.C.A or Humane Society for the prevention of Cruelty to Animals.
