Obituary

Kenneth A Spencer, age 69 of New Smyrna Beach and Oak Hill, died Tuesday March 28, 2017.  Born in Concord NH he moved to Florida 30 years ago with the last 20 in New Smyrna Beach.

Ken served in the U.S. Marine Corp and was proud of it.

He was the Walmart Greeter on SR44 for 17 years – handing out smiley stickers to all the children when they came in and doing his “Donald Duck talk” to them.  He was a celebrity in his own way.

Kenny was never married but loved all “his NSB girls” and the care he received at dialysis weekly from those sweet ladies.

He is survived by two sisters Cheryl Miner (husband Bob Hall) of Concord NH, Evelyn Cooper (husband Frank) of Elizabethtown NY, and two brothers Earle Spencer (wife Vicki) of Marshall Mo and Clayton Spencer of Colorado, and close friends Phil & Joanne Nunziata of Edgewater Fla., five nieces and two nephews and many longtime friends from NSB and NH.

A celebration of is life will be held on Saturday April 8th at Peanuts Restaurant & Sports Bar, 419 Flagler Ave. – Open House style from 6pm -10pm while his favorite band “Cheap Thrills” plays at 9pm.  Please stop by with a “Smile”.

Ken will be buried at the New Hampshire Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen NH on August 3, 2017 his 70th birthday, honoring his wishes.

Donations can be made to DaVita New Smyrna Beach Dialysis, 110 S Orange St, New Smyrna Beach, Fla 32168  in memory of Ken Spencer.

He always put a smile on my face no matter how bad a day I was having or how foul a mood I was in. After I moved to St. Petetsburg, I would stop in to Walmart just to say hello and catch up whenever I was in town visiting. What a genuinely nice person. Semper Fi and guard those streets of Heaven well, Marine.

I worked with Ken several years at Walmart, he was a really great guy to everyone. I would still see him shopping around walmart from time to time after he retired, he would always stop and chat with his Walmart friends. He will be missed

Will miss Kenneth. He was a dear member of the New Smyrna Beach community. It was always a pleasure to meet him at Walmart or about town.
