Obituary

Margaret A. (Peggy) Jenkins passed away on June 13, 2017 at the Brandley House of Hospice of Marion County. Peggy was born on May 27, 1931 in New York, New York, the daughter of Eulalia (Eulie) Fearns Martin & Joseph P. Martin. She earned her teaching degree from SUNY Oswego in 1953 and went on to teach in NY State for over 30 years. She retired to Florida and has been a resident of Summerfield since 2000, coming here from Oswego, NY. Over the years Peggy was active in local theater productions and enjoyed painting, gardening and time spent with family and friends. Peg touched many hearts with her great sense of humor and classy, dignified approach to life. The angels in heaven have gained a special soul. She attended St. Theresa Catholic Church in Belleview. Peggy was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Joseph J. Martin, sister, Marie Theresa Martin and her husband, Harvey Jenkins.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her 3 children, Maryanne (Jim) Reidy, Joseph (Bobbi-Jean) McGrath and Margie McGrath, 8 grandchildren, Jason (Becca) Dorval, Joshua (Erin Dorval) Meadow Ann (Myron Matthias) Davis, Mitchell (Chelsea Bradshaw) Davis, Mark Davis, Chad McGrath, Trisha McGrath, Megan Crispin and 5 great grandchildren, Regan Dorval, Michaela Dorval, Brennan Dorval, Cate Dorval & Mia Anne Matthias. She also leaves behind her brother, Robert (Frances) Martin and his family Kathleen (Eric) Janssen, Robert (Karen) Martin, Matthew (Jane) Martin, Jennifer (Mark Matthias) Martin and their children.

Peggy’s family will celebrate her life with a service on Saturday, June 17 at 10:30 am at St. Theresa Catholic Church, 11528 US 301, Belleview, FL 34420. There will be a reception after the service. Although Peggy left many family members behind in the Northeast, whom she often referred to as “Those Poor Devils” during the cold winter months, she gained a wonderful group of friends and neighbors here in Florida. Her family would like to express their deep appreciation to these friends and neighbors for all their kindness and support throughout the years. Peggy’s family also wishes to express their gratitude to the entire staff at the Brandley House. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to The Hospice of Marion County, PO Box 4860, Ocala, FL 34478-4860.

Peg was our next door neighbor for about 8 years while we lived in the Tamarron neighborhood. She was such a special lady and we loved her. We had her for dinner many times, and at Christmas, she would bring us this wonderful bread from Panera's, stuffed with apples and cinnamon. What a wonderful treat, and so appreciated by us. She truly will be missed. Our sympathy and condolences to all of you, her family.
