Sarah “Nell” Pope (84) of New Smyrna Beach, FL passed away peacefully at home on June 8, 2017. She was born on May 19, 1933 in Glencoe, Alabama to the late Eugene and Edith Jett. She was the youngest of three children, having two older brothers the late, Robert Jones and survived by, Gregory Jett. She was married to her high school sweetheart, Dewitt “Buddy” D. Pope Sr., until his passing on November 1, 1985…
Left to cherish her memory are her son, Dewitt “Dick” D. Pope Jr. and his wife, Kathy, Grandson, Dewitt “Dixon” D. Pope III and his wife, Anne, Great-granddaughters, Cyndal and Caitlyn and Great-grandson, Wayde… Grandson, Gregory J. Pope, Great-granddaughter, Savannah and Great-grandsons, Ayden and Henley… Granddaughter, Kristin L. Madole and Great-grandson, Callen… Son, David R. Pope and his wife, Kathryn, Granddaughter, Wendi M. Harrell and her husband, Steven and Great-grandsons, Devon and Robbie, Granddaughter, Christina M. Pope and Step-granddaughter Emily Lintner… Daughter, Rebecca “Lynn” Pope. She also leaves behind loving nieces, nephews and many others that thought of her as family…
Nell, as she liked to be called, worked as a manager of Howard Johnson’s Restaurants and as a customer service representative for Walmart. She loved and enjoyed to read, travel, cook and spend time with her family…
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, July 8, 2017 at 2pm at the Winfield Cemetary, Winfield, Alabama with Associate Pastor Jeff Brantley, First Baptist Church officiating.
She will be deeply missed and in all our hearts forever. The family wishes to thank everyone for the many expressions of love and prayers throughout her illness and at this very sad time…
