Obituary

Louis M. Venella

February 10, 1928 – November 2, 2025

Louis Martin Venella passed away peacefully on November 2, 2025 at the VA Nursing Home in Port Charlotte, FL, at the age of 97 years.  He was a great man who lived a long and full life.

He was born in Camden, NJ on February 10, 1928, the son of the late Harry and Mary Louise Venella of Runnemede, NJ.  Brother to the late Rocco Venella and surviving sister, Marylou Cunningham.  He proudly served his country as a signalman in the Army during the Korean War.  When he returned home, he attended Temple University and began a rewarding career as a pharmaceutical sale representative.

Besides his love for music and the arts, Louis found joy traveling, reading newspapers, watching his Philly sports teams, but mostly spending time with his family who were his pride and joy.

Louis was a dear father to his children, Scott (Barbara) Venella of Haddon Twp., NJ, Jeffrey (Deborah) Venella of Glassboro, NJ, Gwen (David) Lang of Poland, OH, and the late Amy Venella. He was “Pops” to his beloved grandchildren, Megan (Tyler) Foxwell, Kevin (Suzanne) Lang, Andrew (Babs) Venella, Tracy (Kyle) Venella Rowland, and Lesley (fiancé Matthew) Venella.  Also, his beloved great-grandchildren, Finn & Lily Foxwell, Leo, Franklin & Daniel Lang and Santino Rowland.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Alice “Betty” Venella (nee Kannengieser), whom he married on October 24, 1953, and passed away June 2007.

Our family finds comfort in knowing that Dad’s legacy lives on through the lessons he taught us, the love he shared and the memories we will cherish forever.  He will be deeply missed.

Relatives and friends are invited to his short service on Monday, December 8th at 11:00 a.m. at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Memorial Cemetery, 350 Province Line Road, Wrightstown, NJ.  Please be at the cemetery gates no later than 10:45 a.m. as an honor guard will escort the cars to the chapel.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to Stratford Public Library, 303 Union Avenue, Stratford, NJ 08084.
