Edward L Carter, 81 of Edgewater died peacefully with his family by his side on Friday, November 10, 2023.  Ed was born August 1, 1942 in Baxley, Georgia to the late Edell (nee Mincey) and Eli Carter.  After high school, Ed was traveling the states and was drafted into the United States Army in 1964.  He served his country during the Vietnam Era.  Upon his honorable discharge from the service, he moved to New Smyrna Beach in 1967.  Ed worked for Winn Dixie for many years as a Market Manager and retired from Carter Electric as a Safety Officer.  He was a proud member of the American Legion Post 17 and New Smyrna Beach Gun Club.  Ed will be remembered for his witty personality and his sharp shooting skills.  He was preceded in death by 11 siblings.  Ed is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Judy Carter; sisters, Ethel Beckworth, Elaine Dollar, and Lucy Beckworth and numerous nieces and nephews.  A Life Celebration will be held 3:00PM, Wednesday, November 15, 2023 at Baldwin Brothers Funeral & Cremation Society, 1 N. Causeway, New Smyrna Beach.  Graveside services will be held 11:00AM, Friday, November 17, 2023 at Midway Cemetery, Baxley, GA.
