Obituary
John Richard Hoch, Jr, age 76 of Mohrsville, PA and Dunnellon, FL, lovingly referred to by family as “John-Boy”, went to his heavenly home on January 28, 2024.
He was the son of John Richard Hoch, Sr and Mildred (Sanborn) Hoch.
A 1965 graduate of Liberty High School in Bethlehem, PA, John was a farm assistant for several farms in the Lehigh Valley area while attending high school. After graduation he began his career as a truck driver for Phillips Feed Service, Matlack and Americold. After retiring from the road, John earned his Master Plumber’s license where, alongside his wife, he went on to own and operate M.G. DeLong, Inc. (Bernville, PA) for 20 years.
Preceded in death by his parents and brother George Hoch. He is survived by his wife, Colleen J. (McConnell) Hoch of 34 years, his son David J. Hoch and fiancee Robin Michel of Naples, FL, a sister Alverda Moyer of Allentown, PA. and numerous nieces and nephews.
In his spare time John loved driving his pride and joy, “Bessie”, a red 1951 Ford F-1 pick-up truck. Together, they won many awards at car and truck shows throughout Eastern Pennsylvania. He also enjoyed camping with the Nittany Jaycos, was a member of the Hawk Mountain Region of the Early Ford V-8 Club as well as The Antique Automobile Club of America. Quite the marksman, John enjoyed trap shooting as well as gardening, woodworking, car shows, crossword puzzles, playing bingo and card games with family and friends.
