Obituary
Charles Lee Redd (Lee to friends and family), passed from this world to be with our Lord on the morning of May 25th. Lee was surrounded by loved ones when he passed.
Lee was born on September 20, 1945, to Massey and Blanche Redd in Akron, OH. Soon after they moved to a family farm in Tennessee where daily they milked cows and farmed tobacco. He was the oldest of 4 children (Siblings: Tim, Kathy, and Ted). After graduating from Middle Tennessee State University in 1968, he entered the US Army as a Military Police, serving in Vietnam. After leaving the military, he joined the Hudson Country Prosecutor’s office in Jersey City, NJ, and worked as a Homicide Detective for 25 years. He met his wife Teresa (Terry to friends) and they married in March of 1978. A true team who rooted themselves in faith and projected kindness and laughter. Together, they had 2 children. In March of 2024, they celebrated 46 years of marriage.
Lee Redd wore many hats and accomplished much in his life. A Vietnam Vet, Homicide Detective, Bible school teacher, Army Captain, farmer, cancer survivor, painter, devoted Christian, husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He was a protective, funny, grumpy, attentive father who provided for his family. He was a captivating storyteller, regaling tales from the farm, his police days, and good times with friends.
He is survived by his wife Terry; children Ashlee and Christopher (wife, Jessica); two grandchildren; and brother Tim (Debbie). Lee was preceded in death by his father Massey Redd; mother Blanche Redd; sister Kathy Lewis; and brother Ted Redd.
