Obituary

Douglas Essenberg, 80, of Port Charlotte, FL, passed away Jan. 28, 2022.

Doug was born April 3, 1941, in Angola, IN to Jerald and Johanna (Westerhof) Essenberg. Doug worked in several industries, but his favorite was being a volunteer firefighter. He had countless stories which earned him the nickname “Politician”. He was a kind man who loved conversation with anyone and everyone.

In addition to his parents, Doug is preceded in death by his stepmother Martha Essenberg and his sister Patricia Zynda.

Doug is survived by his brother Jerry (Marilyn) Essenberg, Brother in-law Bob Zynda, Susan Essenberg to whom he was married to for 13 years, his Daughter Andrea (Eric) Stone of Lowell, MI and son Paul (Holly) Essenberg of Palm Harbor, FL along with 4 granddaughters; Harper Stone, Avery Essenberg, Olivia Essenberg, and Evelyn Essenberg,

    A heart of gold, a smile on his face no matter what, and would drop everything to help anyone. They just don’t make them like that anymore…Can you ask anymore from a person?

    He is laughing his butt off with my mom, as he watches over us!!
