Mary E. McFadden (nee Arico), 92 of Estero, FL, passed away on October 17, 2017.  Born in Philadelphia, PA in 1924, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Bertha (Madera) Arico.

Mary was the beloved wife of the late John J. McFadden and loving mother to Kathleen D. Walker (Robert) and John J. McFadden (Scott Kreiger). She is survived by a granddaughter (Jaclyn), many nieces and nephews she held close to her heart, and many dear friends on both the east and west coasts of Florida and in the Philadelphia area. She joins her deceased siblings, Joseph Arico and Norma (Arico) Scafide.

Mary was dedicated to her churches. She was active at St. Clement’s in Philadelphia, PA during her younger adult years. Since 1998, she found her spiritual home at Our Lady of Light Catholic Community in Estero, Florida. She was known as one of the “Golden Girls” of Our Lady of Light, involved in daily coffee service, greeting parishioners on Sundays, and volunteering. She was a loyal friend and lived life fully – always the first to the dance floor, a competitive bingo player, and quick to offer to make a dessert for any special occasion.

Friends and relatives are invited to her memorial Mass at 11:00am on Monday, October 23, 2017 at Our Lady of Light, in Estero, FL. A graveside service will be planned later at SS. Peter & Paul Cemetery, Springfield, PA.

In lieu of flowers, Mary wanted to continue her philanthropy that supports finding a treatment for a rare cancer.
