Obituary

Ted Steele, 84,  passed away peacefully in Louisville, Kentucky on November 29, 2019. He was born in Lansing, Michigan in 1935, and was a graduate of Kentucky Military Institute in 1954 and Michigan State University in 1958. He married Suzanne Sheehan Steele in 1955 and they raised five children together. He was the founder and owner of Steele Truck Center in Fort Myers, Florida and was respected and admired by employees and customers alike. He was a proud member of Rotary South and a board member of Nation’s Association.

He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Arthur Steele, his mother, Ada Pearl Steele, and his sister Patty Lou Purtill (David).  He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Suzanne Steele, and his five children, Debra Gray (David), Robert, William (Shelia), Theodore Jr., and Thomas, as well as six grandchildren; Taylor, Brittani, Nichole, Sara, Andrew, and Allison, and six great-grandchildren.

A funeral mass will be held at 11:00 on Saturday, December 28, 2019 at St. Cecelia’s Catholic Church in Fort Myers, Florida. A celebration of life will be held at High Point Place immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that donations be made to Rotary Club of Fort Myers South Foundation, P.O. Box 61986, Ft. Myers, FL.
