Obituary
Roland Wayne Swintek, age 66, passed away following a battle with cancer on December 9, 2020 at Halifax Hospice in Port Orange, Florida. Roland and his wife, Karen Swintek, shared 14 years of marriage together. His life was centered around family and friends.
Born in Evergreen Park, Illinois, he was the son of Walter and Bernice (Paris) Swintek. He attended Brother Rice High School, Lewis University and then received his Masters Degree from DePaul University in Chicago, Illinois. Roland was a Senior Vice President at Merrill Lynch Futures on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange. He most recently worked at Publix – Regional in New Smyrna Beach. He loved his Publix family.
Roland rarely turned down an opportunity to golf, and he enjoyed motorcycling. He was a Safety Range Officer at Volusia Gun and Hunt Club. He loved spending time with family and friends. Roland will always be remembered for his wealth of knowledge about life, his incredible trivia skills and the know of the stock market.
He was predeceased by his parents, Walter and Bernice Swintek, his sister, Lynelle Kelly, and his father-in-law, Donald Conroy.
He is survived by his wife and children, Stephen (Kristin) Swintek, Orland Park, IL; Lauren Swintek (Graham Grochocinski), Elmhurst, IL; Scott (Becky) Swintek, Davenport, FL, Joseph Sarli, Port Orange, FL, his brother Ronald (Janet) Swintek and his mother-in-law, Dorothy Conroy. Roland is also survived by his (brother and sister) in-laws and many nieces and nephews, who loved him dearly.
Roland’s Celebration of Life will be held on December 14, 2020 from 3-5PM at Baldwin Brothers Funeral and Cremation Society at 620 Dunlawton Avenue, Port Orange, Florida. A private funeral service will be held at another date and location.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be mailed, in memory of Roland Swintek, to Halifax Health Hospice, 3800 Woodbriar Trail, Port Orange, FL 32129.
We have wonderful memories of time spent with you both! Lake Beresford, the Keys and most recently New Smyrna Beach and Port Orange. I will never go into Publix without looking for my hug, he gave the best hugs.
