Obituary
Sidney Sheridan Russell, beloved father, husband and grandfather, passed on February 24th, 2021, at home with his daughter by his side.
Sid was born in Flint, Michigan on November 13, 1937 to Eileen and Sidney A. Russell. He had a wonderful sister, Alma Hangstefer who loved him dearly. He attended University of Michigan where he studied Engineering and graduated with a degree in Education. He met his wife, Joan McNaughton Russell, at Lake George, Michigan and they married in 1959. Joan passed on in August of 2020. They were married 61 years.
He is survived by two children, Sherry Russell (Bob Debenedetti) of Troy, NY and Sidney Russell of Elkton, MD. He has one grandson, Robert Patrick Debenedetti, Jr. also of Troy, NY.
Sid worked as a Procurement Engineer for IBM in Poughkeepsie, NY for over 25 years. He owned Russell Photography for 10 years before retiring with his wife in Ocala, FL. Sid’s hobbies included flying Cessnas, photography, martial arts, ham radio and music. He deeply loved his collies – Sparky, Ranger, Alice, Tristan and Jessie over the years.
