Obituary
On July 2, James passed away in Fort Myers, Florida. He was born in Dayton, Ohio on April 20, 1951 to Hobert and Mary Miles Potts (Collins). he was raised in Lewisburg, Ohio, and graduated from Twin Valley North High School.
Jim went on to Miami University, where he graduated with a B.S. in istory. He worked as a teacher for the Miami Trace School System, a supervisor for the Southland Corporation, and finally as a Service and Support Administration for the Hardin County Board of the Developmentally Disabled.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Rebecca Askins Potts. Children Leah Potts, Laura Potts and Patrick (Tara) Potts, Randy Burghy, and grandchildren Moira, Parker, Tate, Alexandra, Gwen, Blair, and Alaina.
Jim will be remembered as a master storyteller, and was always the funniest guy in the room. He never met a stranger and people gravitated toward him. When they were finished talking, he would know as much about the individual he was talking to as he had shared about himself.
The most important thing he would want said is that he was faithful servant of his Lord, Jesus Christ.
His Memorial Service will be held at the Calvary Chapel Gulf Coast. It is located at 20991 Three Oaks Parkway, Estero, Florida, 33928. The service will be at 2:30 PM on July 24, 2021.
A Celebration of Life will be held in Kenton, Ohio on July 30, 2021 at 3:00 PM. It will be at the Forbing Community Center, 122 North Main Street, Kenton, Ohio.
Interment will be in the Grace Cemetery.
