In Celebration / Obituary

Catherine was born on March 3,1995 in Lockport, New York and entered rest on May 29,
2022 in Orlando, Florida. Family and friends celebrated her life on June 8, 2022. She was
survived by stepfather Daniel Harris, and brothers Nash Coyde and Jason Herrington. Early on
she started going by Kate. She was a fighter from a very young age with the first of many
surgeries happening at 3.5 years old. Kate was great at school and was the first student in her
class to read the pledge of allegiance at the beginning of school.

More challenges presented themselves as more surgeries became necessary. Several
body casts over a period of time and a “Halo” head support device were needed. Despite these
challenges Kate’s personality emerged as a fearless, determined young person. Kate
participated in Girls Scouts and made friends easily and often wherever she went. She and her
family loved going to Disney as often as they could.

Around 5 years ago, Kate started living on her own. Kate had a deep love for animals
and she loved her pets. Her cats, Wednesday and Coconut, as well as her turtle Squirt lived a
great life because of Kate’s nurturing heart. Kate enjoyed a rich and fulfilling home life. She
enjoyed healthy cooking with her nurses. Her nurses were a big part of her life and very deep
friendships were often developed. Kate was highly organized and kept her condo in tip top
shape. Decorating and remodeling projects were fun shared times for Kate and her dad. Kate
lived life to the fullest and loved shopping, make-up, spooky movies, and music. Her favorite
artist was Taylor Swift.

As we know Kate suffered many heart aches, from the tragic passing of her mother to
countless surgeries. None of this stopped her from pushing the boundaries of what she thought
she was capable of. In 2021, Kate began driving a modified minivan made specifically with hand
controls for her. This gave her a new found sense of determination and freedom. In Summer of
2022 Kate was set to graduate from Valencia and transfer to UCF. She’d had her first orientation
in May of 2022. It was an exciting day as she interacted with other Bio-Medical students.

One thing is certain, Kate was a warrior. She loved herself, she loved her family, she
loved making others happy, and she never let her hardships stop her from moving forward. She
always had love to give. To honor Kate, gifts can be directed to Pet Rescue by Judy, 401 South
Laurel Ave., Sanford FL 32771. It is an Amazon smile organization if you would like to change
your contributions.
