Obituary
Richard T. Cummings, Sr. passed away peacefully on August 29, 2022 at St. Francis Hospice Care Center in Titusville, Florida. Born in Syracuse, New York on February 27,1936, Dick was the son of the late Martha (Schultz) and John Cummings.
Dick graduated from St. Anthony’s Catholic School in Syracuse, New York. He was a proud Marine Corps Reservist for 8 years. In his younger years, Dick held several jobs: pin setter, soda jerk, and credit union treasurer. He retired from CENTRO of Central New York as a bus driver of 30 years.
Dick enjoyed bowling, fishing, hunting, camping, going on cruises and visiting casinos with his significant other, Patricia Lumley. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 1128 in Williamstown, New York and the VFW Auxiliary Post 369 in Mexico, New York.
In addition to his parents, Dick was predeceased by his siblings William, Charles, John, Robert and Sr. Jean Cummings.
He is survived by his four children, Richard (Patricia) Cummings, Paul Cummings, Susan Roddy and Stephen (Dominique) Cummings. He is also survived by his 7 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Dick also leaves behind Renee Tymosy, Jennifer Lumley, Kimberly Harding and Lorraine Collins. He is also survived by his former wife Shelagh Cummings.
We would like to thank St. Francis Hospice Center’s staff for the exceptional care they gave to Dick during the short time he was there. Everyone there has been so dedicated and caring which made Dick’s passing so much easier for him and his family.
As per his wishes, there will be no calling hours or funeral. Baldwin Brothers Funeral Cremation Society in Titusville, Florida are handling the arrangements.
