Obituary
Ann Alman went to be with her Lord and join her heavenly family and friends on February 28, 2023.
She was born in Ocala, FL, on October 12, 1945.
She graduated from Lake Weir High School in 1963.
She received a distinguished award for never missing a day of school throughout her entire educational years, including elementary school.
After graduating, she received her cosmetology license and owned a salon on Ocala’s downtown square until motherhood called.
Nothing was more important to her than her family. She was very involved in her children’s lives from being a baseball mom, to assistant coach of her daughter’s softball team. She never missed an event or activity.
Later in life she could always be found at the softball field cheering on her granddaughter, working in concession, or holding someone’s baby. She was known to everyone as ‘Gran’.
She loved the beach and all things sweet. The dessert menu was always the most important aspect when choosing a restaurant.
She was selfless, giving, funny, and so strong. She was sure to make you laugh, usually at her own goofiness.
If you knew her, you loved her, and she loved you back with her whole heart.
Her best friend, Fay, was such an important and cherished part of her daily life.
She truly valued all of her friends and family and treasured any time spent together.
She was preceded in death by her beloved son, Douglas Alman, of Phoenix, Arizona.
She is survived by her loving daughter, Shari (Steve) Strickland of Ocala, Florida, the light of her life only granddaughter, Hannah Grace Strickland, of Gainesville, Florida, brother-in-law, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, cousins, and many devoted, supportive friends.
May she forever hold a special place in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
With love,
Kay Higgins
