Obituary
Alan McGarvey, 81, of New Smyrna Beach, Florida, passed away January 15, 2023, peacefully with “Islands in the Stream” playing in his mind. Dementia robbed him of the things he still wanted to accomplish.
In the late 60’s he worked for Armco Steel as a mill worker. He built a Post Office in Eau Claire, PA. In the 70’s he worked as an Assistant Superintendent of highways for Pennsylvania Department of Transportation. He retired and moved to Brevard County, Florida in March 1983. He became a self-building contractor, who built and remolded over 25 homes. Alan was an honorary member of the Masonics, fulfilling 60 years of entitlement with the Parker Allegheny Canby 521 F.&A.M.
He leaves behind his beloved companion of 40 years, Kathy Blay Merriman, a daughter, Kristen McGarvey and a son, Matthew McGarvey. A Brother, Dennis McGarvey, four grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and three nieces. He is predeceased by his parents, Walter and Eleanor McGarvey, and a loving daughter, Kimberly Noblit.
No words can express the loss of a great versatile man who has crossed over to the ever-lasting life. We will see each other again and I will have that Last Dance with you, but now in our eternal life.
