Obituary

Celebration of Life for Alan Stedman, 66, New Smyrna Beach, FL who died peacefully Monday, March 30, 2010 will be 12 Noon Saturday, April 3 at Coronado Community United Methodist Church 200 S Peninsula New Smyrna Beach FL with The Reverend Sarah Lund and The Reverend Esther Robinson officiating. Alan was born in North Hampton, Massachusetts. He came to New Smyrna Beach in 1956 where the family owned and operated Stedman’s Laundry since then. Alan was a member of the United Church of Christ New Smyrna Beach where he enjoyed volunteering and built a rainforest garden on the grounds. He also enjoyed landscaping, gardening and volunteering his time at the Halifax Urban Ministries Meal Kitchen and stamp collecting. He leaves to cherish his memory daughters Laura Haynes and Alison Coslow both of Edgewater, father Phil Stedman of New Smyrna Beach, sister Kristin Clemmer of Lansdale, PA, brother Gary Stedman of Sedona, AZ and grandchildren Zachary and Andrew Haynes and Colonia, Aaron and Nathan Coslow. Memorial donations are requested to Heifer International c/o United Church of Christ 303 Washington Street New Smyrna Beach FL 32168. 12 Noon Saturday, April 3 at Coronado Community United Methodist Church 201 South Peninsula Avenue New Smyrna Beach, FL 32169 (map/driving directions)

    Alan was a high school friend. We played together in St. Paul's Orchestra and were also in the band together. He was a sweet and caring guy and I always remembered him with fondness. My heart goes out to his family at this difficulty time.

    WE HAVE KNOWN ALAN FOR MANY YEARS... TERRY'S MOM, EVELYN COOPER WORKED FOR HIM FOR ABOUT 32 YEARS.. WHAT A GREAT BOSS AND A TERRIFIC PERSON TO KNOW.. HE WAS KIND AND VERY CONSIDERATE... HE WOULD GO OUT OF HIS WAY TO HELP SOMEONE.. ALAN IS GOING TO BE GREATLY MISSED. IF THERE IS ANYTHING WE CAN DO , PLEASE DONT HESITATE TO CALL US..
