Alfred G. “Preacher” Leib
Al “Preacher” Leib, loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, and friend, died peacefully at home on Thanksgiving, November 24, 2022. He was born in Brooklyn, New York, to his parents, the late Henry C. and Ann (Schuster) Leib. He was raised in New York with his late brother, Frederick Leib (wife Mary) and survived by his sister Leona Hazelet (husband James). Al worked in industrial manufacturing industries and was a small business owner.
Al was honorably discharged from the Navy (1965-1971) serving on a Destroyer U.S.S. Moale. Preacher was especially dedicated to supporting veterans and their families. He was the past President of the American Legion Riders Post 215, Senior Captain of the Pennsylvania Patriot Guard Riders, Chaplain of American Legion Post 120, and member of the American Legion Riders Post 120. He supported Wreathes Across America and organized motorcycle runs to support American Gold Star Mothers. Preacher loved to ride his bike and motorcycles were his passion.
Al was an active part of all the communities where he lived, giving generously of himself to caring for people. He was involved in numerous churches through the years, most recently attending Union Congregational Church in Holly Hill, FL and the Barn Lehigh Valley, PA. He was a past master of the Goshen Masonic Lodge, NY, active in the Marriage Encounter and Walk to Emmaus Communities, and active in numerous organizations supporting the homeless.
Al is survived by his wife, Tina M. (Allesch) Leib, his children: Carol Carlson (husband Bruce), Thomas Walker (wife Helen), Joanne Marchetto (husband Jim), and Deborah Leib (husband Jeremy Adams), and his grandchildren: Scott, Mason, Micah, Ryan, Anna, Emily, Jackson, Ruby, River, and Charlotte. He is also survived by his stepchildren: Steven Allesch (wife Laura) and Amy (Allesch) Stockli (husband Andrew) and step-grandchildren, Nick, Tristan, Cole, Willow, Spencer, as well as nieces and nephews: Janine Hazelet Swank, James Hazelet, Michelle Leib Burnette, and Matthew Leib.
The Graveside service will be held at 11:00 am on December 16, 2022, at Fort Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, PA. There will be a luncheon in the Lehigh Valley following the service.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 3:00 pm January 7, 2023, with the Rev. Robin Mansfield presiding at the American Legion Post 120, Holly Hill, FL.
