Alfred R. Kuhn, 87, of Port Orange, Florida died peacefully on November 23, 2013. He was born on November 2, 1926 in Cincinnati, Ohio and lived there until moving to Port Orange in 1998.
Al proudly served in the U.S. Navy during WWII and was stationed in the Pacific Islands. His patriotism remained a constant throughout his life. Upon returning to Cincinnati, after his discharge, he married Dolores Leaman. He owned and operated Al’s Sunoco Station for over 28 years and retired in 1986.
He was a deeply religious man and led his life in accordance with his strong Christian beliefs. Alfred was a 50 year member of the Montgomery, Ohio Masonic Lodge #94 and a member of the Legion of Honor. He and Dolores spent many hours volunteering at the Shriners Hospital for
Children in Cincinnati, Ohio
He was an avid fisherman and fished the Georgian Bay, Canada over the years. He enjoyed the opportunity to appreciate the beauty of nature and the company of good friends. He was also an accomplished golfer and could regularly be found at Cypress Head Golf Club in Port Orange, enjoying the companionship of his fellow competitors, and “shooting his age” well into his ‘80s.
He is survived by Dolores, his wife of 65 years, and his children Linda (Craig) Winston, Barbara (Larry) Leach, and Randy (Barbara) Kuhn. He is also survived by many grandchildren, great grandchildren, other relatives, and life-long friends.
