Obituary
Alice Bender, age 89, of Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania, a long-time resident of Fort Myers, FL passed away at Hope Hospice on May 6, 2018.
Alice married the love of her life, Howard Bender in Niagara Falls, New York. The couple moved to Fort Myers in1960.
Alice was a dedicated and hard worker. She worked as a bookkeeper for Bender’s Ignition, Dr. Salko, and Perma Ceram Bathroom Magic. Alice continued to work as a bookkeeper until January, 2018.
Alice was a devoted and loving mother. She was very proud of her family and was excited to become a “Grandma” to her 13 grandchildren and several great grandchildren. Alice loved Christmas and family get-togethers; any chance to spend time with her family was important to her. She would spend hours cooking, baking and preparing for her company.
Alice’s hobbies included baking, sewing, knitting and crocheting along with being a member of the American Bowling Association. She was also a member of the American Legion, Elks Club and VFW Ladies Auxiliary.
Alice was known for her caring and kind spirit. She will be missed by all that knew and loved her.
Alice was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Bender and grandson, Paul.
Alice left behind her sister Helene Reisig, 3 children, Clifford (Linda) Bender, Janice Stanford and Dennis (Barbara) Bender; 13 grandchildren: Melissa (Doug) Jones, Jennifer (Brian) Russell, Michele Stanford, Dennis Bender (Alicia Barnes), Justin Bender, Adam Bender, Christopher Bender, Marty Brown, Heather Raybuck, Michael (Sandy) O’Neil, Dakota O’Neil, Monique O’Neil, Calista Rowley; great-grandchildren: William, Christopher, Dylan, Jenna, Bailey, Brayden, Kayli, Dennis Jr, Alisa, Mason, Nicole, Michael, Gage, Brooke, Dominic. Sincere apologies to any grandchildren or great grandchildren not named above.
The family will gather at Memorial Gardens on Saturday, May 12th at 11:00 AM for services.
