Alice "Ilse" Bowdon, 82, of New Smyrna Beach, Florida, passed away on December 25, peacefully, at her home.
Born in 1927 in Germany, she emigrated to Santiago Chile in 1938, and then emigrated once again, shortly before her 18th birthday, this time to the United States. In the mid '50s, Alice met and married the love of her life, Eugene ("Sonny"), her loving companion for over five decades.
In the mid 1980s, Alice retired to her "paradise" in New Smyrna Beach, where she and Sonny have lived since, enjoying numerous valued friendships that endured through the years. Among her most treasured relationships were those with her caretakers whose hard work and heartfelt dedication that enhanced the quality of her final years.
Besides Sonny, Alice is survived by four nephews and nieces, eleven grand nephews and nieces, an aunt, and Sonny's sister and nephew. She was predeceased by her father, Rudi, mother, Lisalotte, and by her sister, Ellen. Alice also treasured a relationship with one of her students, Richard, whom Alice cherished as though he was her son.
