Obituary

Alice Brown was born October 19, 1961. In her early childhood years, Alice lived in Key
West, Florida with her parents and brothers. When her father (Sam Brown) passed, she
moved with her family to Ozark, Alabama where her mother remarried. Alice considered
her stepfather as her father for most of her life. Alice graduated from Auburn University
with a degree in Finance before moving to Orlando, Florida, where she worked as an
insurance underwriter.

Alice was married to Scott Lail on May 17, 1997. Prior to that they had been together for ten
years, so more than thirty-six years of her life was spent with her husband Scott. They were
inseparable outside of their jobs and spent every weekend together.

Alice and Scott eloped and were married in Las Vegas and made many trips back there, over
the years. Las Vegas was a favorite spot for Alice as she loved to gamble. Biloxi, Mississippi
was another one of their favorite gambling spots.

Alice loved to travel. Together, she and Scott visited at least half of the United States. They
also traveled to most of Europe and had hopes of returning there one day. Cruising was
another favorite for Alice. She and Scott went on many cruises to the Caribbean and in
Europe, as well. Their cruise to Alaska was her absolute favorite. Beyond traveling the
states and abroad, Alice loved the local attractions. She was a big Disney fan. When in town,
she and Scott spent almost every weekend at Disney World or Sea World. They would stay
at the different hotels and enjoy their weekend time together away from work.

In addition to her love of traveling, Alice was an avid reader and romance novels were her
favorite. She also loved to cook and time spent at home involved trying new recipes.

Alice was an animal lover. She loved all animals but was especially fond of cats. At one time
she participated in a “catch and release” program where she would take in stray cats, have
them neutered and then release them back where she found them. Alice welcomed many
cats into her home over the years.

Alice had two brothers, Sam Brown and Mike Brown, who preceded her in death. Her
stepfather, Harry Potts, is also deceased. Alice is survived by her mother, Elaine Potts, who
continues to live in Alabama. Alice is also survived by her loving and devoted husband, Scott
Lail, and their three cats. The numerous memories of their many travel adventures and life
experiences will be forever treasured.

I am heartbroken to hear of Alice’s passing. We graduated from high school together and I have such fond memories of our time at Auburn where we were roommates in our tiny Windsor Hall apartment. Alice was so outgoing and fun to be around. My deepest sympathy to Alice’s family during this sad time.

Dear Scott - Your sweet bride was taken much too soon! Alice was always a bright spot when we were all together; she always had a kind word, and a beautiful smile. Although you and she had a lot going on, she always took the time to ask about us, and our family and grandsons and was truly interested in our news.

Alice and I always ended up in the kitchen together and we shared thoughts and ideas (and a few laughs too) over the sink at our family gatherings. I miss her!

Alice was a loving wife, and a great sister-in-love. Not only did she show love for her family, we knew just how much she loved you too. With our deepest condolences, we love you! Bob and Cathy

This world lost a wonderful lady, way too soon. Alice, you were always kind and generous. You enjoyed travel and cruises and knew how to live life to the fullest. I always admired and appreciated how you took such great care of your Scotty Bear. Alice and Scott were blessed with a strong and loving marriage. We love you and miss you.

Hey Alice, it's your niece here and I'm glad that we were able to get the time we had together from when I was able to meet your precious kitties to when we would talk at Thanksgiving about animals and all the advice you gave me as well as you and Uncle Scott would tell me that you were proud of me for the things I have accomplished so far. Thank you for always lighting up the room with your beautiful smile and contagious laugh! You will always hold a special place in my heart aunt Alice!
