Obituary

Aline Adrienne Bentham of Punta Gorda, Florida was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She left this world suddenly on June 14, 2024 at age 82.

Aline was born to Olivier and Yvonne (LaMontagne) Richard on August 6, 1941 in Salem, Massachusetts. She grew up there and attended St. Joseph’s School. Aline worked for many years as a Quality Control Specialist for several medical supply manufacturing companies.

On April 17, 1960, Aline married her soulmate and the man of her dreams, Robert Bentham. Together they had five wonderful children, Bobby, DeeDee, Robyn, Lori, and Nicole. The couple settled in Tewksbury, MA where they raised their five children. As a family, they enjoyed spending time at Great East Lake in Maine/New Hampshire. After retiring, the couple became “snowbirds” for several years before relocating permanently to Punta Gorda, Florida. Aline was a member of the Red Hat Society and enjoyed bowling, going to the movies, golfing, going on cruises, and most of all enjoyed her time at the casino.

Aline’s memory is honored and survived by her devoted husband of sixty-four years, Bob; her children, Bobby Bentham of Port Charlotte, Florida, DeeDee Bentham and her fiancé Denis Chandonnet of Tewksbury, Massachusetts, Robyn and her husband Harry Wilson of Methuen, Massachusetts, Lori and her husband John Barbieri of Haverhill, Massachusetts, and Nicole and her husband Jesse Adams of Stoneham, Maine; and her grandchildren Morgan (Barbieri) Mak, Heather (Barbieri) Davis, Joshua Barbieri, Kolby Barbieri, Arielle Chandonnet, Chantelle Chandonnet, Chandler Adams, and Spencer Adams; her brother Robert Richard and his wife Denise of Chandler, Arizona, and her sister Betty Richard and her partner George Rogers of Salem, Massachusetts. Sister in law, Dot Richard of Danvers Massachusetts. Aline was predeceased by her brothers George and  and his wife Eleanor, Paul and his wife Betty, Raymond, Jean, Roger and Roland; her sisters Theresa and Janette Beaupre and her husband Robert.

Her family and friends will remember Aline as someone who would open her home to anyone and everyone, always welcoming them with a big hug and kiss. Her life was a testament to the beauty of a life well-lived, the lives she touched, and the love she shared.

A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, July 17, 2024 at Sacred Hearts Church in Bradford, Massachusetts. Aline was very dedicated to her Catholic faith. In lieu of flowers, the family requests any donations be made to Aline’s favorite Catholic charity, the St. Vincent de Paul Society.

"Ma Tante Aline" - The fond memories I have of growing up as your "oldest" niece are too numerous too count! Heading up to Tewksbury on Sunday afternoons after Church and getting to play with my cousins was the highlight of my week. I was often envious of my cousins having you as their "cool mom" - of course, your kids had other stories they could tell! (Chuckle chuckle). I am so glad that we stayed in touch throughout the years, especially as I got older, and that we got to visit you and Uncle Bob on several occasions in Punta Gorda. When the Holy Spirit nudged me last week to give you a call, little did I know that you had just gotten home from the hospital the day before. It was a great conversation, with you, me, Uncle Bob and Dave. I will cherish and keep that conversation close to my heart forever. All my Love, Your Niece, Michelle Marie Stracener and Dave

To my beloved sister. I did not have a chance to say good bye in person to you so l am writing this to you today to say good bye and tell you that I will miss you so very much and all the fun times we have had together. You were my best friend, confidant, and partner in crime. Until God calls me to my eternal rest then we will be reunited with our Brothers and Sisters to have a wonderful reunion. Rest in his grace and peace, your job has finished here on earth. I will think of you every day. Till we meat in heaven. Your little Sister. Betty
