It is with deep sorrow that I gather my words and memories to share. I was blessed day, my best friend Lou, introduced me to his parents, who fast became a second family. Mrs. Porta “Mom” welcomed me into their family with her loving kindness. She included me in family, gatherings, and always greeted me with the greatest hugs. I always enjoyed spending Mother’s Day with her and her family. Having lost my own mom years earlier, Lou gave me the greatest gift, when he shared his mom with me. I am forever, grateful that Mrs. Porta touched my life. She was strong and her faith, and it was reflected in how she lived her life. She had a humble and gracious heart. I can see the love of the lord shining through her. One moment I will always treasure was on her last birthday, when I shared that God had brought me my forever love. I could feel the joy and excitement in her expression as she asked me for every detail. She genuinely cared. Mom Porta is a woman that was truly loved by her family and friends. Mom Porter was an amazing woman and she exemplified a mother‘s love for her children. Mom porta always had a smile, a loving hug, and an encouraging word to share. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends. I will miss her deeply, but rejoice that she was welcomed home to the fathers house. There are no good words to express goodbye, but I pray , her family find peace and comfort, knowing she is home with the Lord. It was my honor, privilege, and blessing to know her, and to share a close friendship with her. Rest in peace, mom. He will live on in my heart with many fond memories.

So sorry to hear of Mrs. Porta's passing. The Portas were/are long-time friends of my parents and our family at St. Teresa's and mom and Mrs. Porta were co-workers for a number of years at Jess Parrish. It was always good to see Mrs. Porta at any event through the years. She will be missed but I'll remember her fondly.

I was introduced to Ann Marie Porta a few years ago through her daughter, Rosie, her and I worked together. I also was fortunate to meet her loving husband, Robert, and visited them in there home many times. They were both very friendly and welcoming and made me feel like family, they were very easy to be around.
I got to know Ann Marie even better when her health started failing a little after her husband passed and I, being a caregiver by trade, was asked to come from time to time to stay with her so that her daughter, Mary, could get some relief.
Although I know Ann Marie was going through some pain and suffering I never heard her complain. She always greeted me with that beautiful smile and always asked about my family, my sister in particular because she has a lot of ailments, and not only did she ask about them she would ask for the name of the friend, family member or anyone else I was telling her about so she could pray for them specifically.
I found Ann Marie to be very humble. I knew she was an RN but had not heard a word about all of her past accomplishments and volunteer work, frankly I was in awe when I read about them in her obituary and on her tribute wall. I know for a fact that Ann Marie loved the Lord and loved reading His word, in the Bible. Hers was a life of faith and goodwill. Second only to God was her immense love for her family and she was very proud of them all.
I feel blessed to have known Ann Marie Porta look forward to meeting her again in heaven.

In addition to all Ann Marie did in her amazingly holy life, she also led the Benedictine Oblates Prayer and Study Ministry at St. Timothy's Church for many years. Her joy was infectious, and we all eagerly sought her spiritual guidance and friendship. She always prepared our sessions with the best of pictures, statues, Benedictine prayer books, agenda, informative articles, speakers, and with treats when occurring around religious or secular holidays. We were honored and stood in lofty company whenever she presided, and she always managed to put a smile on our faces. To us she was more than a pillar of the Church, she was a spire! Our uplifting thoughts know that she has joyfully finished her lifetime race towards heaven, and though we may all be temporarily sad in her passing, we cannot weep for one who has left more in life, than has taken out.

Aunt Annie, you are sadly missed but you deserve the peace and splendor of our fathers home above.
You have always been a symbol of strength for me to follow. As my godmother and aunt you led me to my path in life as an RN and I am forever thankful. Your bright laughter will always fill my heart.
    You are loved, Colleen

Joining ACTheals, then the Association of Christian Therapists, on 1/1/82, Ann Marie was a vital part of the South East Region and the Nurses Specialty Group. She was the Regional Coordinator from 2005-2011, Co-Chair of the Council of Regional Coordinators under several leaders, and an At-Large Board member for two terms 2005-2010. Her primary role at each conference was that of the sacristan: up very early in the morning to set up the Chapel for the day until late at night when she closed the Chapel for the night. In between all her duties, she acknowledged all, got to know us, loved us with the largest most compassionate heart of anyone I know, and became the (spiritual) mom to many in the group. Always with a smile on her face, she would unpack and repack supplies for the Chapel and church services. Ann Marie was the same at the conferences as she was welcoming me into her home. In later years, she became an intercessor for ACT and for me. She was mom to me. Truly Ann Marie is a person who will always be a part of me.
