Anne Wagner passed away November 12, 2009 in Port Orange Hospice with her family at her side. Anne was the fourth child born to the Rev. George Charles Shears and Marion Lindsey Shears in Alexandria, Virginia, on January 31, 1927. Anne was raised in the Maryland and Virginia countryside and worked at the Pentagon and the Canadian Embassy during World War II. She attended George Washington University where she met John Wagner. They were married on August 31, 1946. Anne devoted her life to her family as a wonderful wife and mother. She is remembered as a fabulous cook, expert Mahjong player, animal lover, avid reader and conversationalist. She had a knack for interior decorating and could make any home feel inviting and stimulating. During her husband’s career, she had the opportunity to do this 17 times. In 1988, Anne moved to New Smyrna Beach, FL, where she was an ardent supporter of her church. She also devoted her support to the Southeast Volusia Republican Club and was a member of the Republican Executive Committee. Anne was a member of the Eastern Star and a volunteer for Meals-on-Wheels. Predeceased by her brother and two sisters, Anne leaves her three children, John Jr., Bruce and Karen, and three grandchildren.
