Obituary
Arlie (Lee) Myers, 76 transitioned to his heavenly home on April 3, 2022, at Cate’s Hospice House in Ocala, Florida.
He was born into this life on June 15, 1945, in Fairbank, Iowa in the home of his parents Bernard (Doc) and Wanda Myers. Arlie grew up in a small farming community. He was the third oldest of eight children. Upon graduating from Wapsie Valley High School in 1963. He joined the Navy during the Vietnam War. He was stationed aboard the USS Enterprise as part of the 56th-Attack Squadron.
Arlie and Bette Slack were married in 1969, they resided in Fairbank, Iowa. Arlie continued to work for his parents at the Myers Feed & Grain Elevator, for many years until it was sold in 1979. Arlie was VP of the Jaycees, played on the softball team, and served on committees at church and many other activities in Fairbank. Celebrated many happy times at wedding dances, playing cards with friends, and enjoying the small-town living.
In 1979, ready for an adventure they moved to Ocala, Florida with their two daughters Milisa (Misi) and Beth along with the family dog Muffin, to pursue warm weather and sunny beaches.
Arlie truly enjoyed driving the semis. He worked many years for Certified Groceries, covering a large territory of the west coast of Florida. He was then employed by Dayco & Honeywell in a supervisory position. He was a true Florida State Seminole Fan and loved his football and also Sunday with NASCAR… Don’t Disturb!!!
He is preceded in death by his parents, Doc and Wanda Myers, granddaughter Olivia, and brother-in-law Gail Niebuhr.
He is survived by his daughters Milisa,(Misi), (Jim) Migletz, Lee’s Summit, Missouri, Beth Myers-Miller, Ocala, Florida, his best friend throughout life, Bette Myers Laird, grandchildren, Megan (Harrison) Cobb, Taylor Smith, Matthew Myers, and Maren Miller, Jimmy (Lauren) Migletz , and Miranda Migletz, great-grandchildren, Avery and Carson Migletz. Fletcher and Ivy Cobb, Brothers, Gordie (Rhonda) Myers, Al (Sharon) Myers, Roger (Cindy) Myers, and Russ (Debbie) Myers, Sisters Bonnie Niebuhr, Barb (Alex) Kemp, Bev (Dan) Huebner, many nieces, and nephews.
The family requests memorial donations be sent to the disabled veterans.
A Celebration Of Life will be held at 3:00 pm on May 20, 2022, at the American Legion in Fairbank, Iowa. A military honors service and interment will be held at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida in June of 2022.
