Obituary

Gladney, Arthur “Art” of Warwick, RI, formerly of Barrington, RI, died on Thursday, February 9th, at the age of 71, after a courageous battle with cancer. Art was born in Minneapolis, MN, the son of the late Arthur and Helen (Popeo) Gladney.

He is survived by his two children, Christopher Gladney of Boston, MA and Haley Gladney of Johnston, RI, and their mother, Susanne Gladney of Warwick, RI. He was the beloved brother of Paul, James, and Lee (Jensen) and the dear uncle of many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister Eileen Richardson, niece Brittany Richardson, and his brother Richard “Rick” Gladney.

Art spent much of his childhood in Barrington, a graduate of Barrington High School in 1970. He attended the University of Kentucky for 2 years and graduated from URI with a BA in psychology. Later in life, he achieved his paralegal certificate from Northeastern University.

His career spanned over 50 years across both entrepreneurial and corporate roles, including wedding photography, telecom engineering, enterprise software sales, and finally, proposal management at Iron Mountain, a role he held for nearly 13 years.

Art was an avid lover of music, a passion he kindled with years of volunteer work at the Greenwich Odeum in East Greenwich, RI. His other interests included sailing, photography, collecting and restoring antiques, amateur radio, and caring for his cherished dog, Misty. His greatest joy in life was spending time with his loving family.

The family will hold a private celebration of Arthur’s life on a future date.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the RISPCA.
