Obituary
KETCHLEDGE Arthur Thomas Ketchledge, 91, of Ormond Beach, FL, passed away at home on July 15, 2017 with his daughter by his side. Art was born on June 9, 1926 to Reverend Raymond A. Ketchledge and Sophie Matilda Ketchledge (nee Waibel) in Trenton, NJ. The family moved to Johnstown, NY when Art was a young child. The Ketchledge family spent their summers on Canada Lake in New York state, boating, fishing, and entertaining friends and family. Art graduated from Johnstown High School in 1944. Art studied Electrical Engineering at Union College at Schenectady, NY and later earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mathematics and Science from Rollins College, Winter Park, FL. Art Worked for General Electric in the field of Aerospace/Defense/ Electronics for over 34 years in Schenectady, NY, Syracuse NY, Huntsville AL, Daytona Beach FL, and Crystal City, Virginia. He worked primarily in engineering and was a Manager of an Engineering Organization within the Radar System Department at Syracuse NY at the the time of his retirement in 1987. He moved from Syracuse New York with his wife Marilyn shortly after his retirement to Ormond Beach, Florida. Art and Marilyn were long time members of the Ormond Beach, Presbyterian Church, they both were volunteers for over 20 years at Florida Memorial Hospital. Art also volunteered at Habitat for Humanity. He was on the the Board of Directors of the Trails South Forty Homeowners Association for eight years. He enjoyed golf, dinners with friends, playing bridge, doing home repairs and researching his family genealogy. Art also enjoyed scrabble matches with friends, out spelling seasoned players and winning up until a few months before he passed. He is survived by a daughter Janice Lura Ketchledge of Ormond Beach, FL; a son Jeff Ketchledge of Port Orange, FL; and grandchildren, Chris Ketchledge of Miami, FL and Nicole Ketchledge. He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 63 years, Marilyn Lura (nee Fowler) Ketchledge, in 2013; his beautiful daughter Linda Anne Ketchledge in 1995; his brothers, Raymond Waibel Ketchledge in 1987 and Dr. Edwin Herbert Ketchledge in 2010. A Memorial Service celebrating Arthur Ketchledge ‘s life will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, August 5, 2017 at the Ormond Beach Presbyterian Church on 105 Amsden Road, Ormond Beach, FL 32176. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to his memory to Halifax Humane Society, 2364 LPGA Blvd., Daytona Beach, Florida 32124.
