Aurora Nieves, 70, of Port Orange died peacefully with her family by her side on Monday, September 12, 2011. Aurora was born April 16, 1941 in Flairda, Puerto Rico to the late Ines Montiyo and Francisco Nieves. She moved to New York as a young woman and came to this area in 1995. Aurora was a seamstress. Her dresses and clothing were a work of art. She was a wonderful cook and family dinners were always important. She could make a delicious meal out of three ingredients. Aurora grandchildren and great grandchildren were the apple of her eye. When she wasn’t in the kitchen or spending time on the floor with her grandchildren Aurora could be found outside tending to her flowers. Everything she touched was beautiful like her. Aurora is survived by her husband, Edwardo Marrero; six sons, Victor and his wife, Mary Figueroa of Edgewater, FL, Jose Santana of Port Orange, Wilfredo and his wife, Theresa Marrero of NY, Jorge Santana of NY, Eddie Marrero, George and his wife, Judy Marrero of NY, 14 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren and 3 sisters, Rosa Nieves, Mercedes Nieves and Bertha Santiago.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Halifax Health Hospice of Volusia/Flagler, 3800 Woodbriar Trail, Port Orange, FL 32129
Private Family services will be held.
