With a heavy heart, we announce the passing of Barbara Ann McDevitt, 60, of Oak Hill, on Nov. 17th, 2010. Barbara passed away suddenly with her family at her side at Halifax Hospital. Barbara was born in Paterson, New Jersey on August 24th, 1950, graduated from Upsala College with a BA in Sociology. She completed additional schooling in Computer Science and worked for Citibank NA & Chase with her last job as a consultant overseeing the Y2K conversion for Chase in Manhattan. Barbara retired from her work in banking and went on to become a licensed Massage Therapist in Florida. She actively donated her time to Hospice patients, community and school development and organic agriculture wherever she lived. Barbara leaves behind her husband Grant Kelly; step son & daughter, Michael (Teresa) Kelly; and step grandchildren, Tyler & Olivia of Langley, BC Canada. Barbara is survived by her sisters, Marijo (Ralph) Stas, FL, Harley McDevitt, NY, Jack (Ginnie) McDevitt, NY; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. Barbara & Grant enjoyed traveling between their homes in White Rock BC, Highlands, NJ, and Oak Hill, FL. They were avid outdoors enthusiasts, enjoying: hiking, camping, kayaking, and mountain climbing, summiting many Pacific Northwest peaks including Mt. Baker's 10,778' accomplishment in 2008. She is deeply loved and will be truly missed by her husband, family, and many friends in New York, New Jersey, BC, and Florida.
