Obituary
Barbara Jean (Tucker) Buscher, 77, passed away peacefully in her sleep on November 21st, 2024, after a long 15 year journey with Alzheimer’s.
She is preceded in life by her parents, Chester and Ann Tucker; brothers, Richard and Donald Tucker; husband of 26 years, USN Retired Master Chief, Franklin D. Buscher; and life companion of 20 years; Dr. Jack N. Shorr. She is survived by her brother, Robert (Shirley) Tucker of Greenville, SC; daughter, Jennifer (Ty) Theierl and grandsons; Colin and Nathan Theierl; all of Winter Garden, FL, and Jacob Theierl of Mountain View, CA; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Barbara was born in Benton Harbor, Michigan. She earned a Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education from Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo, Michigan. After graduation, Barbara taught all over the country and even overseas, in Japan. Barbara went on to obtain her Masters in Montessori Early Childhood Education from Barry University in Miami, FL. Barbara and her family settled in Tavares, Florida where she spent over thirty years as a teacher and administrator for Lake County Schools.
In her spare time, Barbara loved boating, traveling, socializing and hosting gatherings. Along with her late husband, Frank, they founded the Lake County Pontoon Yacht Club. She also founded and was the long time President of the Central Florida Miata Club.
The family would like to thank Dr. Jennifer Kelley with Advent Health, Winter Garden and Cornerstone Hospice of Clermont for the high level of care and compassion shown to Barbara and the family.
