Barbara J. Gardner (nee Sigmon), 72 formerly of Charleston died Tuesday, May 31 2011 at her home in Orange City, FL. Barbara was born April 6, 1939 in Charleston, WV to the late Ransford and Edith Cavendar Sigmon. She moved to Florida in 1966 and graduated from Rollins College, Winter Park, FL with her Bachelors degree as a Registered Nurse. Barbara was a Phi Beta Kappa. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Gerald Lloyd Sigmon and Joyce Eileen Thompson. Barbara is survived by her children, Christina Wilson Wagner, DeLand, Fl, Amy Lynn Wilson, Clearwater, FL, John Ransford Wilson, Holiday, FL and Zachary Scott Wilson, Orange City, FL; seven grandchildren; brother, Robert E. Sigmon, Cincinnati, OH and sister, Vonda Kay and her husband, Lee Roberts of Charleston, WV. Always a mother to the world, took care of everybody else and never locked a door because “somebody might need a place to sleep”. Her children and grandchildren were her life and she always did whatever needed to be done so they could have what they needed. She missed “her mountains” of West Virginia, but loved her work with the elderly (especially her Alehiemer’s patients) and her hospice patients. Barbara leaves this message to all her friends and family, “I’m not in right now, but please leave a message and I’ll get back to you”.
aunt Virgie when she was a young girl in Charleston. They slept on quilts on the kitchen floor and their giggling kept Virgie awake all night. She would take the girls for rides in her '53 Plymouth. Our condolnces to the family and may God bless you and yours.
I have fond memories of times past spent with the Sigmon family. I still live across the street from your house after being away for several years. We keep you in our prayers.
