Obituary
Barbara Joan Ginett, 76, of Leesburg, Florida, passed away on Sunday, May 27, 2018. Barbara was born near Albany, New York to Harold and Margaret Van Alstyne on May 16, 1942. Barbara was known as more of a reserved and quiet woman, whose hobbies included reading novels, quilting and knitting. She always liked cats and enjoyed music from the 1960’s and early 1970’s, being particularly fond of Neil Diamond but never The Beatles.
Barbara met her husband and life-long friend, Wayne, sometime during the era when they lived only half a mile apart up in New York, but they went to different schools: Barbara went to Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk High School, and Wayne graduated from Columbia High School. One of the couple’s inside jokes between the two of them centered on a penny, according to their son, Robert. One would ask the other if they had a penny, to which the other would answer that yes, they did and that they were ready to go! This playful back-and-forth generally signaled the beginning of one of the family trips up to Plattsburg, New York that their children remember well. Quiet or not, Barbara indeed left quite an impression on her immediate family, and it is by them that she shall forever be the most remembered and missed.
Barbara is predeceased by her husband, Wayne F. Ginett, who passed on April 9, 2016; and by her parents Harold C. and Margaret M. Van Alstyne.
She is survived by her son, Robert W. Ginett and his wife, Robin, of Grand Island, Florida; by her daughter, Sheri L. Ginett of Dallas, Texas; by her grandson, Nicholas R. Ginett of Grand Island, Florida, with whom Barbara had a particularly close relationship; and by her great-granddaughter, Reagan L. Ginett, also of Grand Island, Florida.
Any future services held for Barbara will be private and completely at the discretion of her loving family
