Obituary
Barbara Krueger McGuirk was born in Detroit, Michigan, on January 9, 1942, to the late Carl and Ruth Krueger. She grew up in Birmingham, Michigan and graduated from Birmingham High School, Class of 1959. Barbara attended Ferris State University, earning her certification as an Ophthalmic Technician. She worked in Detroit for a leading Ophthalmologist where she was directly involved in working with children experiencing ocular muscle imbalances. Barbara, excited about an opportunity to experience a different area of the country, later accepted an offer to work with an Ophthalmologist in Jacksonville, Florida where she met her former husband, James McGuirk.
Barbara raised her children in Miami, as a loving, dedicated mother and housewife. She eventually followed Scott and Jason to New Smyrna Beach, where she enjoyed a quiet life taking walks on the boardwalk at Smyrna Dunes Park and on the beach. Barbara had a keen interest in her family history and spent many hours looking over old family photographs and records determining her genealogy.
Barbara was preceded in death by her brother, David Krueger. She is survived by her three sons, Jeffery McGuirk (Vicky), Scott McGuirk, and Jason McGuirk (Jess); and four grandchildren, Darien McGuirk, Donovan McGuirk, Truman McGuirk and Isla Brie McGuirk; sister, Susan Ford (Richard) and sister-in-law, Susan Krueger.
A private memorial will be held by the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested to Halifax Health Hospice, 4140 S Ridgewood Ave., Edgewater, FL 32141.
