Obituary
Instead of a customary obituary, the following is a letter to Barbara from the fine, young man from Britain who married our wonderful grand-niece – actually she’s more like our granddaughter – in September, 2018. Brad’s letter was received by Barbara in late October, 2018. At that time, she was rapidly regaining her strength and was well on the way to achieving a relatively good life.
Brad’s letter was cherished by Barbara. It depicts how people truly felt about her:
“Dear Aunt Barb,
I was so sorry to hear that you aren’t feeling too good at the moment.
I know you’re (as my grandma would say) “a tough old bird” and probably aren’t making a fuss. But, should let everyone spoil you and look after you.
From the first day I met you and Uncle Joe, I had such a warm feeling, and affinity towards you – especially (I know Uncle Joe won’t mind).
You’re such a sweet, kind, genuine person and I feel completely at ease with you. I did from the first time I met you.
I’m thinking of you lots and sending you all my love and hugs.
Lots and lots of love,
Brad XXX”
A social gathering for Barbara will be held at Baldwin Brothers Cremation Society, 11250 SW 93rd Court Road, Ocala, on Wednesday, January 9th, between 1 and 3:00pm.
In lieu of flowers or gifts, please make a donation in Barbara’s name to the American Cancer Society at cancer.org
God bless us and keep us in His loving care.
