In Loving Memory of Barbara Travis

Barbara Travis, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family. She was married to her devoted husband, Jack Travis, Jr., for 60 wonderful years, building a life full of love, laughter, and faith.

Barbara was the proud mother of Michelle Nyrkkanen, Jackie Travis, and Jon Travis, and cherished mother-in-law to Marty and Lashell. Known affectionately as Gig, she adored her five grandchildren — Meghan, Matt, Andrew, Jack, and Macie — and her two great-grandchildren, Clark and Barrett Gordon, who brought her endless joy.

A lifelong giver, Barbara worked alongside her family in their hardware store and later their children’s resale shop. She founded SafeSeniors of Volusia, a nonprofit dedicated to helping seniors remain safe in their homes. Her heart for service extended globally — she completed 17 mission trips to Guatemala with Salud y Paz and volunteered locally at her church, food pantries, and community programs.

Barbara was known for her signature pink hair, love of tie-dye, and her Cavalier King Charles Spaniels — all reflections of her bright, compassionate spirit. In retirement, she and Jack enjoyed thrifting, shopping, and sharing life’s simple joys together.

Her kindness and generosity will forever live on through the countless lives she touched.

A Celebration of Life will be held in the coming months. Guests are invited to wear tie-dye in her honor. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Salud y Paz, continuing the mission closest to her heart.

I've known Barb over 40 years and she was always a ray of sunshine with her positivity and her love and concern for others. I will miss her voice on the phone as miles have been between us for more than a decade...but her memory and her smile I'll always carry in my heart.

    In loving memory,
    Susan

Barb was an amazing woman. Always gave everything she had to anyone in need. Barb and Jack are people you need to look up to. The kind of love, happiness and laughter they both shared is something I will miss. As I know I am divorced from her son, Jon... I know ahe still cared and would do anything for me. Lord God...please let her look over all of us. We will surely miss you ❤️❤️❤️❤️
