Obituary
BJ Flanders (80) originally from New York, NY, passed away surrounded by his loving wife and medical staff February 20, 2025. BJ was born August 18, 1944 in Manhattan, New York to Mabel and Joseph Flanders. He worked in several areas of the business sector before starting his career with New York EMS. He started as a volunteer and loved it. His career lasted over twenty years. BJ enjoyed working in the different Burroughs as a paramedic and rising through the ranks to become Lieutenant. He also was an honorary recognized 9/11 survivor.
BJ was a multi-talented, award-winning swimmer in Boys High School. In his early adulthood, he did standup comedy and improv at local comedy clubs.
BJ was a beloved member of Christian Worship Center Church for thirteen years. He participated in the Men’s Ministry. He loved giving to the different charities at his church.
He is survived by his wife, Joanne; sons, Sean and Nicholas; and daughter, Mia. BJ is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Mabel Flanders.
A dedication service for BJ will be held at his home church, Christian Worship Center, at a date to be determined. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in his name to Christian Worship Center Children’s Charities.
