Obituary
Benjamin Mason Parran, 70, of Port Orange, Florida passed away on March 26, 2017 at Halifax Health Hospice Port Orange Care Center. He was born August 6, 1946 in Boston, Massachusetts to the late Benjamin and Elizabeth Barron Parran. Ben was a graduate of Cranwell Preparatory School and he attended Embry-Riddle University. He served in the United States Marine Corps from 1967 to 1971 and is a Veteran of the Vietnam Conflict, serving on the C-130’s, the work horses of the air. Ben was an Auditor for local hotels when first arriving in Daytona and was retired as Rural Carrier for the United States Postal Service. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing, gardening, reading, cooking, baking, and fine dining, and having a cold one with his buds (you know who you are). Ben is survived by his loving wife, Shirley Parran of Port Orange, his sister, Katherine Moriarty (Richard) of Chesapeake, Virginia; brother Edward Parran (James Guidera) of New York City, mother-in-law, Shirley Weesner of Port Orange, brother-in-law, Michael Weesner of Daytona Beach, stepson, Daniel Freeman of Jacksonville, Florida; and a myriad of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Angela Parran. Memorial donations may be made in memory of Benjamin to the Halifax Health Hospice Port Orange Care Center, 3800 Woodbriar Trail, Port Orange, Florida 32129.
