Obituary
Bernice (Betty) J. Welfenberg, 73, of Dunnellon, FL passed away peacefully on January 25, 2022, surrounded by her family and loved ones. Betty spent most of her life in Palatka, FL where she was a teacher at Hollister Christian Academy and a home health nurse and Dunnellon, FL where she continued her nursing career until she retired in 2018. She worked as a nurse (LPN) for 50 years and also enjoyed working as the grid steward for many go-kart functions in Florida. Betty will be dearly missed by many friends, the karting community, the Marion County Sherriff’s Department COPS (Citizens Observer Patrols) Program, and her family and she will always be remembered for her love and care for others.
Betty was predeceased by her mother and father. She is survived by her sister Imogene (Wayne) Moore, brother Richard Aker, four sons, Darryl (Erin) Dotson, Dwayne Dotson, David Dotson, Michael (Ashton) Welfenberg and daughter Angela (Karl) Bowlin along with multiple grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. Betty requested a celebration of life be held in her honor as opposed to traditional funeral services. We request all of Betty’s loved ones and friends to join us in celebrating her beautiful life at Meadowbrook Church, 4741 SW 20th Street, Ocala, FL 34474 on February 19, 2022 at 11 am. A potluck reception will be held afterward with place to be announced at a later time.
