Bethzaida Martinez, 79, of Ocala, FL, formally of the Bronx, NY, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, March 11, 2022. She was born in Guardarraya, Puerto Rico on May 1, 1942, to Timoteo and Maximina Tirado and has lived in Ocala with her husband of 61 years Angel L. Martinez since 2006.

Meisy, as she was known by many close friends and family was a natural caregiver. She married the one and only love of her life, where they met in the Bronx, NY, they had 4 biological children and fostered hundreds of children and chose one to raise together. Meisy, was an excellent home administrator, she insured her kids were well cared for and administered the home finances all while supporting Angel during his working years. She loved to crochet, was an excellent seamstress and very crafty, which she shared her talents with all whom had interest in them.

She’s survived by five children Migdalia “Mickey” Hoey, Angel L. Martinez, Jr., Orlando Martinez, Michael Martinez and Ricardo Martinez. Mima, as her grandchildren called her, is also survived by Michele Rivera (nee Hoey), Orlando Martinez, Jr, Timothy M. Martinez, Michael F. Hoey, IV, the twins Angel D. Martinez, Antonio C. Martinez, Daniella Martinez, Michael Martinez, Jr. and Brianna Martinez, seven great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and in-laws. Survivors also include her sister Laura Muniz of Brooklyn, NY and a brother Orlando Tirado of Port St. Lucie, FL. She is predeceased by her two brothers Milton Tirado, Brooklyn, NY and Alexis Tirado, of E. Stroudsburg, PA

A funeral and visitation will be held from 2-4pm on Tuesday, March 15, 2022 at Baldwin Brothers Timber Ridge Chapel, 11250 SW 93rd Ct. Rd. Se 300, Ocala, FL 34481. 352-236-7813.
