Obituary

Betty Jeanne Autterson passed away on September 3, 2022 at the age of 96 with her son Ted Autterson at her side.    October 1, 1925 in Lawrenceburg, Indiana, Betty was the first child of the late Leonard and Mildred Fowler.

Jeanne spent her entire career after graduating from Lawrenceburg High School 1943 working at Perpetual Federal Savings & Loan in Lawrenceburg, Indiana.

Jeanne was the first woman in the state of Indiana to reach the level of Vice President in the Savings & Loan business.   She also served as Corporate Treasurer as she worked from teller through the steps of leadership.    Her tenacity and commitment to professionalism was her reputation.    Jeanne retired from Perpetual Savings & Loan in 1983.

A lover of the beach, Jean’s retirement was spent as a Floridian, moving to Cape Coral in the early 1980s. She loved to read, walk the beach, dip in the pool, and have lunch with friends.

She attributed her health to staying active and was a long time member of an aerobics class always looking forward to the coffee with friends afterwards weekly for over 30 years.  Her weekly schedule for nearly 40 years in retirement was full of daily activities.    She lived alone and drove herself to everything until days before she passed.

Jeanne’s family always talked of her thoughtfulness. She took great care to choose holiday NS birthday gifts for each.  She would spend hours carefully choosing the perfect cards for birthdays. She took great pride in being a grandmother and great grandmother, loving to hear stories and see pictures of her family.  She attended every family event at every holiday.

Jeanne was preceded in death by her husband, Tom Autterson. She is survived by her daughter, Pat Gallahue of McKinney, Texas.  Her son, Ted and daughter in-law Marcia Autterson of Mobile, Alabama. Her brother, Ronald Fowler of North Fort Myers, Florida.  She also is survived by three grandchildren and four great grandchildren, plus three nephews and their families.

In her final wishes, she asked that donations be made in memory of her and her late husband Tom Autterson who was a board member years ago at the Dearborn County Hospital.

Donations can be made to St. Elizabeth Hospital Foundation, Formerly Dearborn County Hospital, in memory of her and her late husband Tom Autterson, DCH Board Member, 1 Medical Village Drive, Edgewood, KY 41017,  www.stelizabeth.com/donate or to Hope Hospice of Hope Healthcare, 9470 Healthpark Circle, Fort Myers, Florida 33908, Office: 239‑985‑7726, https://donate.hopehcs.org
