Obituary

Betty Lou O’Connell passed away surrounded by her family on August 6, 2016 after a valiant 5-year battle with cancer.   Betty was the daughter of   Anna Mae McKelvey and Clifford Miller. She was born April 8, 1934 and resided in the area of Youngtown, Ohio as a young woman.  Betty moved to Volusia County in the 1970’s and has been a resident since.  She is preceded in death by her siblings Anna Mae, Nelson  and Odessa; she is survived by her siblings Sheila Kehoe, Clifford, Allen and David.  Betty was the beloved wife of William James O’Connell Sr. for over 50 years; he preceded her in death in January of 2015.  Betty was a loving mother to six children: Julia, William, Richard, Timothy, Robert and Callista. She was a cherished grandmother to thirteen grandchildren: Timothy, Kailtlyn, Stephen, Stephanie, Kathryn, Patricia, Lillian, Cara Winn-Dixie, Sean-Patrick, William-Joseph, Margaret, Callista and Gillian. Betty is also survived by her sons-in-Law Dr. John Gilbert and Jason Likavec and her daughters-in-law Tania O’Connell and Anita Esposito.   Services for Betty will be August 16,2016, 9:00 a.m, at the Basilica of St. Paul.
