Obituary

Betty Roop Ritter passed away surrounded by family on December 31st, 2022 in New Smyrna Beach, Florida. Mrs. Ritter was born on August 29, 1946 to Mary Burt and Howard Roop of Munfordville, KY. Betty grew up in Kentucky and attended Western Kentucky University and then lived in Illinois, Indiana and Ohio with her husband and children. In 2001 she realized her dream of owning a home in Florida and living near the beach. Betty worked as a server at a variety of restaurants, hotels and supper clubs. Betty most recently worked in the deli department at the Port Orange SuperTarget from the time it opened until she retired after ten years of service in 2012. She was a member of Christ the King Church in Port Orange and Orbit Perfoming Arts Academy where she loved to tap dance and perform in recitals. In addition, Betty loved traveling including going on cruises, celebrating holidays and was most happy spending time with her husband and children. She had the gift of gab, loved life and was always ready with a laugh. She is survived by her husband, Doug Ritter of Port Orange, Florida her brother William Roop of Annapolis, Maryland and her children, Cindy Ritter of Louisville, Kentucky, Nicole Ritter of Charlotte, North Carolina and Jeffery Ritter of Port Orange, FL as well as her Chihuahua, Rico. There will be a memorial service at a later date in May. If you would like to honor her memory, the family requests that you make a donation to the Flagler Humane Society or your local animal shelter to support her love of animals.

    I am so heartbroken to hear on the passing of Betty. Not only was she a wonderful client, she was a great friend. My sincerest condolences to the Ritter Family. She will be extremely missed.
