Obituary

WOODY, BEULAH FLESHER WOLFE, 101, passed away peacefully on October 18, 2010 with family by her side. She was born on August 21, 1909 to Fred C. and Minnie Hess Flesher in Indianola, Iowa, where she graduated from Simpson College in 1931. Beulah married Fred A. Wolfe in 1933, remaining in Indianola where their only child Fredrick J. (Jerry) Wolfe was born. Soon after, they moved to Oxford, IA, where she taught English, Speech and Dramatics, and was the coach for girls’ basketball at Oxford High School. Later, the family moved to Grinnell, IA, where Fred was president of the Poweshiek County Bank. As Fred’s health deteriorated from Parkinson’s disease, they retired to Winter Park, FL, in 1966, to be near Jerry. After Fred’s passing in 1968, Beulah remained in Winter Park, later marrying Clyde D. Woody. During her younger years, Beulah was an active member of the Rebekahs and past president of the Philanthropic Educational Organization (P. E. O.) Sisterhood, as well as an outstanding violinist. Beulah is survived by her husband C. D. Woody, son Jerry Wolfe (Heather), granddaughter Abigail Rizor (Rusty), grandsons Jesse Wolfe and Peter Wolfe and three great granddaughters. She was a devoted mother and grandmother, and will be greatly missed. The family would like to thank the staff at ACC Courtland for caring so lovingly for Beulah during her last years.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Salvation Army or the SPCA of Central Florida, 2727 Conroy Road, Orlando, FL 32839, http://www.ohs-spca.org.  A graveside service will be held at Palm Cemetery, Winter Park, at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, October 26. Palm Cemetery, Winter Park, FL
