Obituary
Please join us in spirit to celebrate and give profound thanks for the blessed life of Beverly Marion Dowd Plant who passed away peacefully at home with her family on October 7, 2021.
Beverly was proudest of her loving children Robin, Robert and his wife Lesley along with five adoring grandchildren Alex, Matthew, Mia, Ty and Noah, her devoted marriage of 61 adventurous years to Ralph and her well deserved 90 years of a life filled to the brim with kindness, creativity, gratitude for family and friends and a passion for educating students to learn and love to read.
Born in Syracuse, NY in 1931 and raised in Oswego, NY Beverly developed a fondness for school early on and spent the subsequent years of her life continuing to educate herself and others. She earned her first Master’s Degree in Elementary Education and her second in Library Science, all the while using her multitude of skills to bring well-being, happiness and joy to all of God’s creations both inside and outside of her classrooms and libraries. Beverly even named her cats Sunshine and Joy!
In recent years Beverly created the phrase “Thanksgiving for Living” making the most of her exquisite talents in thoughtful poetry writing and colorful card making as a way to bring cheer, love and warm wishes to her family and friends. An ardent believer in freedom of speech, her ability to communicate her thoughts and feelings through these mediums gave her tremendous pleasure particularly as her declining health limited her independence and activities.
We will sorely miss Beverly and will forever give thanks for her life so well lived and her heart and soul which loved so deeply and were so deeply loved. As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to Halifax Health Hospice at www.HalifaxHealth.org/giving
We were so very sorry to hear of Beverly's passing. She was a lovely, gracious lady, and we are so sorry for your loss.
Thinking of you all,
With deepest sympathy,
Amanda and Isadore Jermyn
You’ve found the shore mom and the storms can no longer touch you. We will always love you and be inextricably bound to you. As I whispered in your ear probably far too many times you will never ever be alone
All my love always,
