Obituary

Billy A. Green, born August 31, 1934, in Atlanta GA, passed away February 9, 2023, at 88 years of age. Billy graduated from The Citadel in 1957. Upon graduation he entered the United States Air Force where he served for 37 years retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel. From there he worked as the Senior Vice President of commercial lending at First Union until his retirement. Billy played many sports including football and tennis in his younger years and later set his focus on golf. His favorite late afternoon pastime was to have a game on the tv while he read, snacked on some peanuts, and drank a martini (or two). Billy was an avid reader. Ask anyone and they will tell you that he would have his head buried in a book any chance he got.
Billy was an intelligent, kind, loving man who would go out of his way to help others in distress. He was a supportive father and a gentle husband. He is survived by his wife Brenda, daughter Ashleigh, and grandson Cory. A memorial service will be held Friday, March 10, 2023, at 10 a.m. at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery followed by a celebration of life later that day.

Billy was a smart man & good leader. I worked with him in banking and I’m forever grateful for him having confidence in me to be on his management team. I learned a lot from him. He always ‘allowed’ me to drive to and from our Brevard work trips and he would always catch an afternoon nap as a passenger on the way back to Orlando. I have missed him ever since his retirement. Ashleigh, my son DJ’d for one of your pool birthday parties when you were a young girl. I remember Billy cherishing your dream catcher and that you were his very special little girl. Bless you, your mom and family during this difficult time.
