Obituary

Mrs. Blanche Harriet Smith, 96, passed away at home on June 1, 2020, in the care of her daughter.  She grew up in Unity, ME and relocated to East Hartford, CT with three of her four children during WWII.  She is predeceased by her husband of 47 years, Arthur Smith, parents Lucille Nelson, John Hamlin, two brothers Stanley Hamlin, John Hamlin, granddaughters Danielle Smith and Theresa Dumesnil, and step-son Richard Smith.  Blanche loved her blended family of 58 and is survived by daughter Sandra Bellico (Philip), South Daytona, FL, sons Barry McNelly (Jennifer), Tolland, CT and Graig McNelly (Janice) Coventry, CT, step-sons David Smith (Diane) Ft. Myers, FL, Gary Smith (Jan) Bradenton, FL and Scott Smith (Reba), Ridgefield, WA.  She is survived by two granddaughters, 11 grandsons, one great granddaughter, 11 great grandsons, 6 great-great grandsons and one great-great granddaughter.

Blanche and her husband, Arthur, enjoyed their sail boat and sailed from the Caribbean to the coast of Maine and everywhere in between.  They also loved square dancing and traveled throughout the country for several years in a motor home after their retirement before settling in Florida.  They also enjoyed going on cruises with family.  Blanche especially loved shopping and baking.  She was known to be classy and sassy!  And she loved to tell everyone that her daughter had now become her mother!

There will be a celebration of life at Halifax Landing, South Daytona, FL on July 25, 2020, from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm and final burial in Glastonbury, CT with family when travel is permitted.
